Penny Stockham and Sion Whellens, from our BNI designers and creative printers Calverts, are en route for Manchester as this is posted. Calverts has won a pitch to brand and design collateral for a new annual event, Co-operatives Fortnight, which launches on 19 June 2010. Today’s meeting with their client, Co-operatives UK, is to take the final brief, after which the Calverts teams will be working their socks off to deliver what’s needed on a very tight schedule. That’s everything from an online diary and promotional website to posters, t-shirts, button badges and leaflets.
This ‘C14′ event is designed to give all kinds of co-operatives – from co-op trust schools to worker and housing co-ops, credit unions, football supporters trusts and of course the high street retailer (all member-owned and controlled businesses) the chance to work together to promote the co-operative business model.
It rounds of an good start to the business year for Calverts, which as well as being London’s greenest printing company also has some of the capital’s sexiest and most talented creatives. In the first week of January, new business from new clients included a staff publication for the Zizzi restaurant chain, an annual report for Tate London, and a high-end brochure for advertising agency Cutting Edge, to promote a luxury chalet development in Andermatt.

Update 14.19pm: now on our way back from Manchester. The client gave us a pretty open creative brief – as long as whatever we do ‘works brilliantly’!
