Gearing up for visitors day

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Message from Chapter Director, David Taylor, 2010media

We’re hard at work preparing for our twice yearly visitors day. This is a chance for people to sample what makes BNI so successful around the world and also to meet members of our Chapter.

Held this year on Thursday 20th May, we’re expecting a great selection of visitors from local businesses and we’ll be doing our level best to make them feel as welcome as possible.

So, if someone has told you about BNI but you were unsure about coming along to one of our regular meetings, why not come to the visitors day – it may just change the way you do business!

The power of 1-2-1s

Friday, April 16th, 2010

Clerkenwell Chapter is made up of some people who have been members for over 13 years while others have only been attending meetings for the past couple of months. However, no matter how long you’ve been a BNI member, it is vital that you have 1-2-1s with other people in the Chapter.

With this is mind, at Clerkenwell this week, we held a 10-minute 1-2-1 session where members could catch up with people in the Chapter they made not have spoken at length to for some time. I myself spoke to Michael Strelitz from Datasafe Services who updated me on his client base and spoke in more detail about the types of referrals he was after.

We have to remember that BNI doesn’t simply last for 90 minutes once a week. The Chapter meeting is an excellent forum for people yet it should only be seen as a taster – much of the real business goes on during 1-2-1s, whether held in nearby coffee bars or in one of the excellent local restaurants.

Learning about the power of websites

Monday, April 12th, 2010

In a digital age where the internet has become the pre-eminent form of communications, the role of the website has become absolutely vital for any business. So, we are pleased that within the Chapter we have our very own specialist web designer Anuschka Fritz of Moustique Design.

During last week’s 10 minute slot, Anuschka told us about some of the work she has been doing for clients as well as the different companies she works for. She particularly focused on blogs and how many clients were now having them embedded into their websites as a way to improve their search engine optimization and make them more interesting for their staff and clients alike.

So if you believe you need a new website or wish to talk to someone who can talk to you clearly and simply about web design, then talk to Anuschka. She is currently looking for retailers (especially those with online shops), restaurants and designers (who need high-end custom-designed websites), as well as blogs to add to any website, big or small.

At the same time, the Chapter has a ready-made powerteam of professionals who can work with her – Charles Gervais (social media photography), myself David Taylor (online communications) and our former member Graeme Boyd (search engine optimization).

Similarly, if you have a business which could tie in with this powerteam of internet professionals, why not come along to our visitors day on May 20th?

New era beckons

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

So, tomorrow sees the start of a 6 month term for the new Leadership Team here at BNI Clerkenwell with lots of exciting changes planned for the Chapter. Watch this space!

Thanks must be given to the excellent work done by the outgoing team of Quentin Bargate, Adam Tarr and Andrew Field. Membership is up, referrals are up and business passed is up making them a tough act to follow.

If you are intrigued to find out how business networking works or would like to improve your business contacts in the Clerkenwell/Farringdon area, they why not come along to visit the Chapter.

Get ready for Spring – get networking

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Well, the temperature has finally crept into double figures and the daffodils are gamely trying to peak through the permafrost. We at BNI Clerkenwell are banishing all thoughts of winter and are looking forward to a busy spring and summer of networking.

We’ve got new members joining – one of whom appropriately enough is a florist – and a regular flow of visitors.

So, if you have a business in the Clerkenwell/Farringdon area, instead of waiting to see who is going to form the next Government or hoping that new business is going to drop into your lap, why don’t you come along to one of our weekly breakfast meetings. It is simply the most cost effective ways of marketing yourself and your business.

Central London networking ‘fest’

Friday, February 26th, 2010

So, the BNI Big Breakfast has come and gone. Over 400 BNI members and guests gathered at Lord’s Cricket Ground this morning for almost five hours of networking and presentations.

Most of the Clerkenwell Chapter was there in force and we’re all looking forward to the imminent launch of BNI Connect which will transform the way we network online.

So what have you got to lose? Arm yourself with business cards and a pad of paper, pull on some comfy shoes and get yourself down to the home of cricket. You never know, it might just be the event which could transform your year or your business!

There’s snow stopping us networking

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

It may well be snowing again but that won’t stop us from holding our weekly networking event at Old Sessions House in Clerkenwell.

Our members, many of whom are drawn from businesses within a one mile radius, will be champing at the bit to blow off the cobwebs of Christmas and get down to some serious (and not so serious!) networking.

So, why don’t you join us? If nothing else, you’ll get a tasty breakfast which’ll help to ward off the sub-zero temperatures.

BNI in 2010

Friday, December 18th, 2009

We’re all looking forward to a busy 2010 and a full networking calendar.

This includes The BNI Big Breakfast on 26th February which will be a veritable networking jamboree.

There are also many more opportunities to networkwith brand new training sessions, seminars and events.

And one of the most important new developments in the history of BNI is the imminent launch next year of BNI Connect, giving members an on-line presence and connecting them with BNI members across the globe.

In the meantime we wish everyone all the very best for the Festive Season and the New Year.
